Valuing community practice
The social enterprise and community sector is full of examples of good practice. Whether through neighbourhood organisations, local services, self-help groups, community initiatives or non-government organisations; many people achieve important results.

But often the components of good practice are not recognised or measured. They are rarely shared within organisations or externally to wider audiences As a result, the potential for application of learning and replication is not realised and opportunities for systemic change are not identified.

A practice bank
The Canopy Project works with partner organisations to explore and analyse the key elements of their practice. In particular, we focus on the key ingredients that make projects, programs and services effective.

Through use of a range of strengths-based approaches, important aspects of their activities are captured and contribute to a practice bank that brings together examples from the field. The learning from this informs the partner organisation and others who access and make use of the information in the practice bank.

Positive impact in more places
The goal of the Canopy Project is to provide avenues through which to achieve wider and greater positive impact. This happens through sharing and promoting lessons from the Project, as well as supporting others to make good use of the knowledge in their own work. The benefits of valuing community practice often start close to home.

Who we are
The Canopy Project is a non-profit entity supported by investment and partnership funds. We are a group of practitioners working in the social enterprise sector. Our partners and supporters see a return on their investment in the project through uptake of results and impact on the ground.
