There are critical points in the cycle of any project or program where a set piece intervention can make a big difference to the eventual outcome.

Examples are group exercises to define the purpose of a project, support to key individuals on defining their roles and workshop sessions that bring out potential risks early on in the process.

  Maria V. Rodrigues
   
Maria Rodrigues holds a doctorate in Applied Ethics and a BA in Psychology. She brings to clients of Community Works her knowledge and expertise in research, analysis, teaching, training and communication. Maria’s interdisciplinary research has focused on ways of building ethical understanding across racial, national, and cultural boundaries and she has developed principles for promoting social justice that apply readily to governance processes, education programs, training modules, and media productions.

Maria’s primary research expertise and interests include:

  • Devising models for optimum cross-cultural interaction in the workplace;
  • Developing culturally appropriate education programs to encourage civic participation; and
  • Critically analysing governance structures with the aim of improving human rights outcomes, particularly for Indigenous peoples.

Her work has been published in a variety of books and journals, and has also contributed to international conferences, involving presentations in South Africa, Brazil, New Zealand and Kenya. Maria has also lived and travelled extensively in Southeast Asia, Japan, South America and India.
